Interview with David O'Brien

His form did not go unnoticed and he moved to Dundee in the 2007 close season having signed a pre contract with the Dens club in January that year. It is fair to say that his time at Dundee did not go as well as he would have hoped and at the start of season 2009/10 he rejoined his old club Stirling Albion via a brief time with Ayr United.

in depth profile

David O’Brien started his senior career in 2001, joining Stirling Albion from Denny Amateurs and established himself with Stirling, playing in their 2006/2007 promotion winning side when they won the play offs having finished runners up to Morton. That promotion side featured a number of excellent players including one Robert Snodgrass and of course, were managed by present Morton manager, Alan Moore.

David joined his old boss, Alan Moore, as one of his first signings for the club at the start of season 2010/2011. David is a powerful attacking left sided midfielder and very much likes to run at defences. As the season progressed he became more and more effective for Morton and he is a player who fits the Alan Moore philosphy the the game should be played with wingers. In the second half of last season he scored six goals and is also credited with a further 7 “assists” throughout the season. He is now one of the first names on the manager’s team sheet.

Obry, as he is known signed an extension to his contract with Morton which will keep him at the club for a further season at least.
