Breaking | Chris Millar Returns Home

Greenock Morton are pleased to announce the signing of former St Johnstone midfielder Chris Millar.

The experienced midfielder returns to Cappielow for a second spell following a five year period with the club between 2003 and 2008 which saw him making a total of 207 appearances as well as lift both the Scottish Second & Third Division titles.

The 35-year-old midfielder put pen to paper on a deal at Cappielow this afternoon and becomes new manager, Ray Mckinnon’s first signing of the close season.

Almost ten years on since his last game for the club, Millar is absolutely delighted to be back and has high hopes for the upcoming season.

The ecstatic star told gmfc.net “I am completely buzzing to be back. Obviously as I still stay local, a lot of people have been encouraging me to come back and as soon as the manager gave me the call and had a chat with me it was an easy decision for me to make. My ambitions for the club is to push for promotion and I cannot wait to get started”.

Morton boss Ray McKinnon added: “I am thrilled to be able to welcome Chris back to the club. His vast experience and quality of play will be an exciting addition to the squad.”

“He is obviously a Morton lad so he knows the environment and the supporters, he has the passion and desire to have another successful spell here. I knew after speaking with him that we both share the same ambitions and I am looking forward to working with him.”

“We are looking at bringing quality to the club and there is no better way to start than bringing in a player of Chris’ calibre”.
