Breaking | Rory McKeown signs for Morton

Greenock Morton Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of defender Rory McKeown on a one-year contract, subject to international clearance.

The 25-year-old left-back has signed up at Cappielow after spending the last two seasons plying his trade south of the border with Accrington Stanley, Southport, and Warrington Town.

Prior to his move to England, Belfast-born McKeown played under Ray McKinnon at Raith Rovers during the 2015/16 season, and he’s been tempted back to Scotland by the opportunity to link up with the Ton boss again.

Speaking to media officer Jonathan Mitchell, McKinnon said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Rory on board because we were looking at that area after young Strappy [Lewis Strapp] got injured.

“We worked with Rory at Raith Rovers. He’s a solid professional, a proven Northern Ireland Under-21 international who is an excellent full-back and gives us good cover at left-back and left centre-half.

“If we can get the necessary international clearance before tomorrow, he will be involved in the matchday squad against Queen of the South.”
