Brian McLean: Sheer togetherness got the victory

Brian McLean was over the moon on Friday night after scoring his maiden goal for Morton in a memorable 3-2 win over Partick after a sensational comeback from two goals down.

McLean, who joined the squad in July, played at centre half in the game against Partick and was delighted to contribute with the winning goal in front of the home crowd.

Speaking to gmfc.net, he said: “It’s an unreal feeling scoring for the first time and getting an important goal like that in the victory.

“Personally, I’d have much rather have kept a clean sheet in the game than score the goal but when the opportunity came I was delighted to help the lads up the other end of the pitch.”

“It’s amazing what 45 minutes can do. The gaffer came in and told us exactly what he expected and we listened and did exactly what he told us.

“It was important we responded in the right manner and as a team I think the way we went about getting the victory was mature and we were delighted to get all three points.

McLean highlighted the squad’s heart and desire as being the most important reasons for the win when he said: “We’ve got a sheer togetherness at this club that is imperative to success.

“We all believe in each other and trust each other so that definitely brings us all together as almost like a family.

“From the management all the way to the staff, especially Dave Mackinnon, they’ve all put their trust in us and we hope that shows in our performances on matchdays.”
