Derby Day Memories – Ricki Lamie

Defender Ricki Lamie‘s one and only Morton goal to date was a 92nd-minute equaliser at the Paisley 2021 Stadium on Hogmanay 2016, and he would love to replicate the ‘sheer elation’ he experienced again in today’s derby.

He said:

“It was my first goal for the club and a long time coming. You couldn’t quite script it as a way to get off the mark.

If you had to pick a game, and time in the game, then that was it. The only thing was that it wasn’t for all three points.

It was one of the best feelings I’ve had in football, especially because I was disappointed in the first half: it was my man at the corner

So to score when I did … it’s just sheer elation. You’re kind of caught up in it personally and, with the circumstances, it probably felt like a win.

“This season the boys who have come in have got a sense of what it means to the fans, and the club as well.

“They’ve strengthened during the summer and I’d say we’ve done the same. So it will be a good match – and it would be nice to replicate that goal!”
