Derek Gaston Signs New One Year Deal

Morton are delighted to announce that Derek Gaston has signed a one-year contract extension that will keep him with the club until 10 June 2019.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper is one of the club’s longest-serving players, recently reaching 200 appearances for the club towards the end of last season.

The experienced shot stopper was nominated for the SPFL Save of the Season after making an outstanding save that prevented Queen of the South’s Stephen Dobbie scoring from the half way line in a 1-1 draw at Palmerston in February this year.

Now heading into his seventh season at Cappielow, Gaston is keen to impress new manager Ray McKinnon and the Morton boss is delighted to have him signed up for the upcoming campaign.

He told gmfc.net: “Derek is a top quality goalkeeper and I am delighted that he has decided to commit his future to the club.”

“He is a steady performer in the championship and I have always been impressed whenever I have watched him play. I have no doubt that he will continue to impress not only myself but the Morton supporters aswell.”

“Being a goalkeeper is not an easy job but I am confident that Derek will have a successful season and I am looking forward to working with him.”
