John Baird to join the club on emergency loan

Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker John Baird has agreed to join the club on an emergency loan until the end of the season, manager Jim Duffy has confirmed.

Baird, who started both meetings between the teams this term, trained with the squad at Parklea this morning and is expected to seal the move at the beginning of next week with the clubs set to clash this Saturday.

Gaffer Duffy was keen to strengthen his depleted roster and hopes to have the 32-year-old’s registration completed in time to face Livingston here at Cappielow on Tuesday.

He told gmfc.net: “Bairdy has agreed to come and join us on an emergency loan from Inverness until the end of the season and I’m absolutely delighted.

“He’s a player I know; I worked with him a few years ago when I was at Brechin for a while, and he’s also a player we know well from the division.

“He also knows the division and knows a lot of the players, so I think he’s a really good signing for us at this stage of the season.

“Obviously we’ve got injuries to the likes of Thommo [Robert Thomson] and Jai [Quitongo] up top, so I think bringing Bairdy in will be a really good acquisition for us.

“As I say, he’s signing on an emergency loan from Inverness so not available for the game at the weekend but hopefully, if all the paperwork is completed, he’ll be in the squad to play Livingston on Tuesday.”
