Mark Russell returns to Morton

Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to announce that Mark Russell has today signed a one-year contract, subject to international clearance.

Youth academy product Mark joined our Under-17s squad in 2012 and made his first team debut in November 2013 as a substitute against Dumbarton before slowly becoming a first team regular in the 2014/15 season.

The 25-year-old scored 4 goals in 153 appearances before departing for Falkirk in the summer of 2018.

After spending only seven months at the Bairns, he moved to League of Ireland Premier Division side Finn Harps where he spent two seasons.

The defender turned attacking midfielder decided to make a return to Scotland and in particular Cappielow by putting pen to paper on a deal that will see him be a Morton player once again.

Russell linked up with his new teammates this morning as Manager Gus MacPherson continues to shape his squad for the new season.
