Morton are out for revenge against Inverness this weekend as the Ton face their opponents for the first time since their previous 3-1 defeat in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.

The Ton sit a mere two points from bottom placed Partick Thistle but on the contrary, remain also two points from the playoff places and a win may see Morton rise up to 4th place, dependent on results elsewhere.

However, a defeat on Saturday may also see the Ton slip down to bottom place dependent on results emphasising how close the league remains in the first quarter of the season.

The Caley Jags sit 5 points clear in the playoffs going into Saturday’s game and will be hoping to cement their place in the playoff positions with a victory against Morton at Cappielow.

Morton Milestones and Significant Stats

6 – Striker McHugh is Morton’s top scorer this term with six goals in ten starts and four substitute appearances.

40 – Chris Millar is one goal off of scoring a total of 40 goals for the club over his two spells and the midfielder will be hoping, if selected, he can reach this milestone and contribute with a goal tomorrow against Inverness.

Last Time Round

Morton crashed out of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup in our previous match against Saturday’s opponents after a disappointing loss to Inverness as the Caley Jags ran out 3-1 winners.

The Ton was full of fresh faces and debutants in the game as they looked to avenge their previous week’s result of 5-0 in Inverness.

Goals from Nikolay Todorov, Aaron Doran and Miles Storey all proved to be crucial in allowing Inverness to progress to the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.

It was also a proud day for debutant Alexander Easdale who made his first team debut for Morton in this match at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium.
