McCrorie and Dallas join on loan from Rangers
Greenock Morton Football Club can today announce the double signing of striker Andrew Dallas and goalkeeper Robby McCrorie on loan from Rangers until 9 June 2019.
Scotland Under-21 cap McCrorie, 20, is a regular with the Ibrox outfit’s reserve side and made 41 appearances whilst out at Berwick Rangers in season 2017/18, including a Betfred Cup start against ourselves (pictured, top).
Highly-rated frontman Dallas, 19, is a prolific goalscorer for the Rangers second string and netted three goals in six starts and three substitute appearances during a short loan stint at Stenhousemuir last term.
Manager Jonatan Johansson said: “We have been working extremely hard to reshape and strengthen the squad by adding hungry, young players with desire and who want to give everything for the club.
“Today I have been able to add two of my targets, Andrew Dallas and Robby McCrorie on loan from Rangers, and I am delighted to have them on board.
“They are two players I worked with at Rangers. Dallas trained with the first-team the whole time I was there and he has a fantastic attitude towards his profession. He’s really hungry to come and do well at this level.
“He’s a really willing runner with a fantastic goalsoring record in the Rangers reserves. He’s been on the bench with the first-team and a player I really enjoyed working with who has improved a lot since.
“He signed a new deal with Rangers, which shows how much they believe in him at that level and that’s why this has taken a little bit of time, because I have been after him for a month now.
“I think the fans will enjoy watching him and believe he is the type we have been missing all season really so I’m delighted to get it over the line.
“Robby came about a little bit later when I found out Ryan Scully wanted to the leave the club. When that happens you make arrangements.
“Like Andy, I know Robby as he trained with us in the first-team at Rangers and I think he’s Scotland’s best young keeper and a future Rangers No.1.
“He’s been out on loan to Berwick Rangers already and proved himself at the senior level, and I think he will be one of those signings that fans will be able to say for a long time: ‘Remember he was here?'”
He added: “It is vitally important to recruit players who fit the profiles we have identified in order to enhance our tactical options, particular in terms of our offensive play.
“So I cannot stress enough how crucial I consider it to ensure we recruit the right players and for the right reasons rather than act in haste and bring in new faces for the sake of it because they’re available at the time.
“I want to do things differently and take the club in a new direction to make long-term improvements. The plan to develop our own academy players as well as bringing in young players with potential is slowly taking form.
“Living in the area I know a lot of Morton supporters and I believe they share our desire to see talented young players in the first-team.
“Changes take time and when you make those changes they inevitably bring mixed results. It won’t be easy but I firmly believe in the direction we are headed.”
