Motherwell forward MacLean joins on loan

Greenock Morton Football Club are delighted to announce that forward Ross MacLean has today joined from Motherwell on a season-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old has made 22 first-team appearances for the Premiership side, including scoring an extra-time winner in a Betfred Cup tie against Ross County last term.

He is a player who has consistently caught the eye of manager Ray McKinnon and the Ton boss told media officer Jonathan Mitchell: “We’re quite delighted to have been able to get Ross MacLean on board.

“He joins from Motherwell on a year’s loan, although they do have a recall option on him after six months in case they have injuries or he’s done brilliantly, whatever it may be.

“Ross has appeared for Motherwell’s first-team and is a young forward who can play as a striker or a wide player and gives pace and directness. He has a great attitude, great energy, great ability, and a real hunger.

“I’ve seen him play for Motherwell, both first-team and the Under-20s, and always thought: ‘Whoa, he’s decent.’ This is a great platform for him in the Championship and we’re hoping he can really kick on.”
