New electronic turnstile system explained

We can confirm that supporters who are purchasing season tickets will be issued with cards in place of traditional books as part of the method of entry utilised by our new electronic turnstile system.

Preparatory work for the installation commenced this week and will be completed ahead of the beginning of the upcoming 2017/18 campaign.

Two sets of modern turnstiles will be stationed at either end of the Sinclair Street facade for entry to the Cowshed and the main stand, with the latter including a disabled gate and a new ticket office.

Upgrades to the away turnstiles are also included in the planning application with a view to carrying the work out at a later date.

Our current turnstiles are almost 100 years old, the youngest dating to the 1920s, with a flow rate of 45 people per minute over four gates.

However, the replacements, which will be taller and wider, will see this more than double to 100 people per minute and guarantee speedier entry to the ground on matchday.

A key part of this process is the introduction and use of a swipe-card system, which will see every season ticket holder issued with a season card that they will scan to gain entry to the stadium.

Alternatively, supporters who have not purchased a season book can register for a fan card, upon which they are able to top up funds and select the specific games they wish to attend in advance online.

You can order your fan card simply and easily through our dedicated website www.gmfctickets.co.uk, at a production cost of £2, from Monday 26 June. Supporters who use this method will enjoy a freeze upon last year’s pay-at-the-gate prices.

Fan card admission prices:

Adults – £18
Concessions – £15
Children aged 12-16 – £5

Supporters who have any difficulties with the online registration process are invited to visit us here at Cappielow and our office staff will be happy to assist you through a two-minute process.

Non-fan card holders paying on a matchday will be required to purchase a brief from our new ticket office and subject to an additional £2 charge. This £2 will be invested directly into our own youth development programme.

Non fan card admission prices:

Adults – £20
Concessions – £17
Children aged 12-16 – £7

Children under 12 will still gain free entry irrespective; however, they will be required to collect a voucher from the ticket office on matchday prior to entering via the turnstiles.

  • We expect delivery of both season card and fan cards by the beginning of July and these will be posted out to your registered address
