New media and communications officer

Morton are delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathan Mitchell as our new media and communications officer.

Responding to feedback from supporters, we made a commitment at board level to create a new post and recruit an individual to provide content for our website and social media platforms.

Jonathan was someone we identified as our primary target for the role and so we are pleased to be able to welcome him to the team here at Cappielow.

A freelance journalist who has been published in a wide range of national titles, he may be familiar to fans having reported on the club for the Greenock Telegraph on a daily basis for the last six years.

He officially takes up his position on Monday August 15 and can be contacted via email at: jonathan@gmfc.net.

Commenting on the appointment, club director Warren Hawke said: “We are delighted to have Jonathan Mitchell on board as a core member of the Morton staff.

“The most frequent criticism made by fans has been that the level of communication coming from inside Cappielow could be much better.

“Appointing Jonathan as our media and communications officer shows our commitment to the fans to address this in the best possible way.”

Jonathan added: “I am thrilled to accept this exciting new position with Morton and look forward to getting started in the role.

“As someone who was born, raised and still lives in Greenock, I fully appreciate what this club means to local people, and, particularly, the supporters.

“I am committed to providing them with regular and timely news and content about the Ton.”
