Quitongo wins SPFL Goal of the Month Award

Hitman Jai Quitongo‘s wonderstrike against Queen of the South has been selected as the SPFL Goal of the Month for September.

With Jim Duffy’s side already leading 1-0 at Palmerston, Quitongo checked in off the left flank and whipped an unstoppable shot over Doonhamers goalkeeeper Alan Martin and into the net off the underside of the bar.

The goal was shortlisted alongside seven others and put to a fan vote on the Scottish Professional Football League’s official Facebook page.

Goal A: Graham Dorrans – Partick Thistle v Rangers 
Goal B: Karim Belmokhtar – Clyde v Edinburgh City 
Goal C: Karim Belmokhtar – Clyde v Edinburgh City
Goal D: Jai Quitongo – Queen of the South v Morton 
Goal E: Mark McGuigan – Stenhousemuir v Berwick Rangers
Goal F: Lewis Morgan – St Mirren v Queen of the South
Goal G: Fraser Fyvie – Dunfermline Athletic v Dundee United 
Goal H: John McGinn – Celtic v Hibernian

And the 20-year-old came out on top with 37.4 per cent of the vote, seeing him finish ahead of Stenhousemuir’s Mark McGuigan in second (18.6 per cent) and Lewis Morgan of St Mirren in third (13.4 per cent).
