Reece Lyon signs new deal until June 2022

We are delighted to announce that midfielder Reece Lyon has today put pen to paper and extended his current contract till June 2022.

Greenock-born Reece progressed through our youth academy and, upon graduating from our Under-17s, signed a two-year professional deal in June 2017 before signing an extension in March this year.

He made his first senior start for Morton back in October last year scoring a sensational late winner against Queen of the South.

The 19-year-old has made a total of 25 appearances for Morton, netting 3 goals with his most recent being on Saturday in the Ton’s 4-1 victory over Alloa Athletic.

Manager David Hopkin is delighted that the midfielder has committed his future to the club and believes he will continue to develop as a player over the next three years.

Speaking to gmfc.net, he said: “Reece is a player who is willing to listen and learn and it’s great that I will be able to continue to work with him in helping his game improve over the next three years.

“I strongly believe he has the ability to go far in the game and it’s great for the whole club and community in seeing a local player continue to develop and do well for the first team.

“It’s a great bit of business to start off the week and we are actively looking at bringing new faces to the club before our game against Hibs on Saturday”.
