STEPHEN CHECKS IN AT CAPPIELOW

New signing, Stephen McGinn arrived at Cappielow Park this morning, ready to train with his team-mates, having made his debut for Morton on Saturday against Dunfermline Athletic.

The debutant enjoyed his 90 minutes out on the park saying, ‘The boys have made me really welcome and I was happy with my performance although, naturally, disappointed with the result.’

It had been a whirlwind 24 hours for the midfielder as he had only found out about Morton’s interest in him on the Friday morning.

‘I arrived at Tranent for training with Hibs and the manager, Jack Ross called me into his office to say that there was a possibility of going to Cappielow and that he wouldn’t stand in my way as he knew I wanted to play in matches. I actually texted him on Friday night to thank him for this opportunity.’

The fact that Stephen had worked with ‘Ton management team, Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen, before, was also a determining factor for him.

‘Obviously, they are guys that I trust from working with them earlier in my career and that was a big deal for me. I’m here to hopefully play games and if I’m asked to pitch in behind the scenes as well, then I am happy to do so but it’s all about winning matches.’
