Supporters to design and select away strip

Morton supporters have been handed the opportunity to both design and select the team’s away kit for next season in an exciting new competition launched today.

Following on from the fantastic success of the public vote that allowed fans to select our current pin-stripe home shirt, we have decided to ask the talented children of Inverclyde to use their creativity to come up with our latest kit.

Local school pupils – and any big kids who want to get involved – are asked to use their imagination and come up with the strip they would like to see their heroes wear on their travels in season 2017-18.

Pick any combination of colours or quirky design – the more unique, the better – and our manufacturing partners Vision Outsourcing will make your dream a reality by producing the bespoke design.

Kids are invited to send their entries to the club whereupon a panel of judges will select 12 to be developed graphically, with the dazzling dozen announced on gmfc.net on Friday 7 October. The successful designers each receive the current home shirt as a prize, courtesy of competition sponsor FifeCare Funerals, Oakley.

Then the wider fanbase will give their verdict, first narrowing the choices down from a dozen to four in an online vote before this quartet are produced as prototypes by Vision and put on display as part of another public ballot.

The final fans’ choice will be announced by the end of January and put into production to ensure that they are on sale before supporters head away on their summer holidays.

Greenock Morton Community Trust chief executive and club director Warren Hawke said: “The strip ballot in the summer was met with an overwhelmingly positive reaction and we have decided to take that one step further.

“The football club are delighted to work with the Morton in the Community programme to create a competition for schoolchildren to design next season’s away strip.

“We’re asking kids across Inverclyde to get their creative caps on and use their imagination to come up with a kit they would love to see the players wear on a Saturday.

“We value the thoughts and opinions of our fanbase and we feel it is important to continue to listen to them and engage with the local community.

“This competition means that for the very first time in our long history, Greenock Morton will wear a bespoke kit both designed and chosen by our support.”
