Ton Under-11s triumph over Manchester City

Morton Under-11s enjoyed a hugely successful weekend by coming out on top in a round robin friendly tournament that included Hibernian, Hutchison Vale, and Manchester City.

The Ton academy kids won all three fixtures, hosted at Hibs’ training centre in Ormiston, and did so without conceding a goal.

Proud coach Paul McCallum told www.gmfc.net: “On Saturday we played Hibs, Manchester City, and Hutchie Vale Under-12s, and we managed to play very well and win all three matches.

“It was 30 minutes per game, and we played Hutchie Vale in our first game and won that 1-0. In the second game, we played Man City and beat them 2-0, and in the final game we beat Hibs 1-0.

“We were also told just before the games started that we would be playing offside. That was something the boys had never done before either.

“The coaches were really pround of all the boys. I don’t think I’ve seen a harder working team. I mean, Man City had some players with exceptional technical ability, but I think they were shocked by the effort from our boys.

“Don’t get me wrong, we played a lot of really good football as well, and to win all three games without conceding a goal was top-class from the kids.”
