TV camera arrangements for Ross County game

As supporters will be aware, it has been necessary for broadcasting companies to erect a temporary camera gantry inside the Cowshed in order to facilitate live television coverage of matches at Cappielow.

The board at Greenock Morton Football Club fully appreciate our supporters’ frustration at this arrangement and how it impacts on their ability to watch televised games from their favoured vantage point on the terrace.

Our fans’ matchday experience is our utmost priority and with that in mind we requested meetings involving our safety team, structural engineers, the SPFL, and broadcasting companies to consider possible alternative arrangements.

We explored a number of options, including switching the camera gantry to the main stand and attaching a suspended gantry to the Cowshed roof.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of all parties over the last 18 months, it became clear that there was no workable solution that would also meet the necessary safety requirements and that the only option was the continued use of scaffolding.

Therefore, we regret to advise that will again be the case when Friday evening’s Ladbrokes Championship fixture against Ross County is screened live by BBC Alba and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

To alleviate the impact on supporters the decision was taken to remove the segregation banner from within the Cowshed as a means of creating extra space, which we implemented prior to our last home fixture.

We value the atmosphere generated since the away section was re-introduced in April 2017, however, and this will be restored prior to the next home game against Dunfermline Athletic on 26 January.
